- 3 tbsp pure Canadian maple syrup
- 500 g pork mince
- 3 large finely sliced spring onion
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tsp hoisin sauce
- white pepper
- 1 packet dumpling wrappers
- 2 cups savouy cabbage, chopped
- 4 whole savouy cabbage leaves, for layering
To serve:
- Crispy chilli oil
- Pure Canadian maple syrup
- Spring onion, sliced
Method
To make the filling:
- In a large bowl, combine the pork mince, pure Canadian maple syrup, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, hoisin sauce, white pepper, and chopped savoy cabbage.
- Add most of the spring onions to the mixture, reserving a small portion for garnish. Mix well until evenly combined.
- Divide the filling into three equal portions for layering.
- Steam whole cabbage leaves (layering) for 5 minutes.
To assemble:
- In a baking dish, line with parchment paper and add a layer of dumpling wrappers, a steamed cabbage leaf, then spread one portion of the pork mixture on top. Repeat the layers (wrappers, cabbage leaf, filling) until all the mixture is used, finishing with a layer of dumpling wrappers on top.
to cook:
- Place the dish in a steamer (or over a pot of simmering water) and steam for 20–25 minutes, or until the pork is fully cooked through.
To serve:
- Drizzle with chilli oil and pure Canadian maple syrup and garnish with the reserved spring onions before serving.
